Playwright & Theatre Artist

I've been a theatre professional my entire life. I started as a child actor in the musical "Oliver" and just never stopped. As a proud Equity Actor, I've acted and/or directed at some of the nation’s finest regional theaters including; the Tony Award winning South Coast Repertory Theatre; Dallas Theater Center; the Cleveland Playhouse; American Heartland Theatre; Forum Theatre (Chicago); The Royal George Theatre (Chicago); Watertower Theatre (Dallas); Shakespeare Festival of Dallas; Ft. Worth Shakespeare in the Park; Virginia Stage Company; Virginia Shakespeare Festival; and, other regional theaters/touring companies. I have had the great good fortune of being cast in several long-run productions including, the Chicago premiere of “The Foreigner” and “Little Shop of Horrors”, as well as “Mass Appeal” and a national tour of “A Chorus Line”. Internationally, I performed Rum-Tum-Tugger in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Cats” for 500+ performances in Hamburg Germany. I was performing the night communism crumbled and the Berlin Wall fell. It was a wild and historic time to be living in Germany. (Ask me about it sometime.) At nearly 40 years old, I began teaching and directing while continuing my acting career. I loved teaching. I loved my students. Being in the classroom was fulfilling and, yes, exciting. Soon, my academic career expanded and I found myself as a College Dean (for 12 years at 4 universities). But even then I continued to write and to direct. Over the course of my career I was appointed Artistic Director at various organizations including Tidewater Regional Repertory and The Pittsburgh Playhouse. And then came Covid...and, for a while, just about everything changed. A few years ago, I stepped away from education -- which now allows me to spend more time writing.
